Why Buy The Canon T2i?

I have been wanting to purchase a prosumer camcorder for years.  Visions of the Canon GL2 and Canon XL2 danced in my head from time to time, then reality struck and I asked myself “What are you THINKING!?!?”

Some friends of mine have a video production business.  They came from a TV background so of course they went and bought $15,000+ betacams to do their stuff.  And it looks great, and the huge cameras are impressive and leave little doubt that they are “press” wherever you go.

So I have been looking around at other mini-DV cameras, in the $3000 and under range, thinking I just might be able to afford one of those. Then I heard about the Canon T2i.

At first you think to yourself “but the movie mode doesn’t last very long!”  Ah!  But what scene in a movie is going to be more than 5-10 minutes anyway?  By equipping a plethora of SDHC cards, you can shoot your entire movie with what is supposed to be a still camera.

Still not convinced?  The accessories!  Already there are accessories for using digital SLRs as full-featured video camera.  From pistol grips, to eyepieces that fit over the LCD screen – these little buggers are going to be a force to reckon with.

I want one.

At under $800, it certainly is within the possibility to buy the Canon T2i and finally get a video camera AND an upgrade to my Digital Rebel I bought a few years ago.

Definitely possible.
